Frequently asked questions

Why does my AVIF file not open?

Tailorpix decodes AVIF with your browser. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can do this. Update your browser if the file does not load.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG does not support transparency. Tailorpix fills transparent areas with white. If you need transparency, choose PNG under Settings.

Will the JPG be larger than the AVIF file?

Often, yes. AVIF stores images very efficiently; JPG usually needs more space for the same quality. A file limit under Settings keeps the size in check.
